Medicare Rebates for Psychology

Medicare rebates for psychologymedicare-400

You do not need to have a referral in order to make an appointment.

However, in order to receive a rebate for the majority of your session fees through Medicare, you must have a valid referral (mental health care plan) from a GP, psychiatrist or a paediatrician.

There is no referral necessary if you are claiming via your private health extras fund.

If you do not have a regular GP, we can refer you to a GP within our network.

  1. Medicare card holders are entitled to a rebate to assist in payment of fees for up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year (as of Jan 2013).
  2. Clients with other medical conditions may be eligible for a further 5 sessions at the end of the 10 initial sessions under the Chronic Disease Management Scheme with Medicare.
  3. Concession card holders may be eligible for a concession fee.
  4. Session costs can also be offset against Private Health Extras Cover and rebates vary according to your level of cover. We work with all private health funds.
  5. TAC & Victims of Crime claims are payed directly to the psychologist  so there is generally no out of pocket cost.

Please discuss the fees and rebates with Dr Jarred when you make your appointment.
