Medicare rebates for psychology
You do not need to have a referral in order to make an appointment.
However, in order to receive a partial rebate towards your session fees through Medicare, you must have a valid mental health care plan from a GP, or referral from a psychiatrist.
No referral is necessary if you are claiming via your private health extras fund.
- Medicare card holders are entitled to a rebate to assist towards payment of fees for up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year (plus extra 10 as of Aug 2020). Special sessions are available under the new Eating Disorders Plan for those who qualify under this scheme.
- Private Health Extras rebates vary according to your level of cover. These cannot be used at the same time as Medicare rebated sessions.
- TAC sessions incur a small out of pocket cost.
- NDIS clients welcome.
- Unfortunately Bulk Billing is no longer available.
Please confirm the fees and rebates when you make your appointment.
